54 YEARS OF MARRIAGE.
I had posted a picture on instagram some 4 days back which says, 'Happy Anniversary' to my maternal Grandparents.
It was on 24th May 1964, my Nana(grandfather) & my Aaji(grandmother) got hitched. In my previous blog on mother's day, I've described a bit about my grandmom. But let me just refresh it all over again.

Miss. Pramila Yashvantrao Dhende was born in Savlaj, Maharashtra.
It is a village in the Tasgaon tehsil, in Sangli district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.
She was the eldest among 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
Being the responsible child, she has always looked after the house, her siblings very well.
Since her mother was working very hard to get the basic necessities for their home, Pramila has always lead a hand in helping her parents overcome these critical times.
Pramila has always been a different person since she was a kid.
She had immense love to educate herself. Yes, in the era of Independence !!!
She was 11 years old, when she herself took the decision of making her dream of schooling, come true.
She admitted herself in the 4th grade, as the village had classes only till the primary level.
Her parents did not even know about Pramila seeking education in the school.
She used to complete her quota(work) for the day and used to sneak out with her younger sister to march towards her school.
She secured her primary education for a few years, after which the typical 'ready for marriage' phase started....
⦁ Just a note, in Maharashtra, girls had to get married at a very young age as the old masses had some beliefs and their very own traditions, which I prefer not to talk about.

Here enters, Mr. Pandurang Kondiba Waghmare- the most eligible bachelor.
Mr. Pandurang, born on 25th September 1937 in a small native named Avalai in the Sangli district itself, met Pramila a week prior to their wedding.
It was an arrange marriage. Just how it happens in India.
The boy visits the girl's family. The girl is made to dress very simple and sober. The girl has to obey the guests. The girl is interviewed by the boy's family. And if, after all of this, the boy's family likes the girl, then the alliance is confirmed. *sigh*
The same exact scene had happened in case of these two too. Just a minor addition, Pandurang had fallen head over heels for Pramila. In the first meeting, itself!!
It was a yes from his side. And, from her's too.
The weddings back then were given a thought of minimum expenditure.
The engagement and marriage was done on the same day i.e. 24th May, 1964. A Sunday.
Their first initial days were spent in the village itself.
Finally, Pandurang decided to shift in Mumbai. Pramila came along.
Pandurang got a job in the Premiere Automobile Limited(PAL) and that's when he purchased a house in Kurla, Mumbai.
Life was going on.
Till the day, when Pramila had the privilege of getting the title of a MOM.
Yes indeed, she was pregnant.
10th October 1966, Pramila gave birth to a baby girl.
It was the happiest moment for the couple.
The baby girl was named Maya.
Since then, the girl league had started.
The consecutive 4 children were also pretty little girls.
⦁ Manda.
⦁ Sudha.
⦁ Sandhya.
⦁ Karuna.
And after the 6th attempt, they finally had a baby boy. *giggles*
He was named Anand, as he did brought happiness in their lives equally, as those pretty little angels did.
They finally started a family of their own.
There were highs and lows, twists and turns.
But together, they managed to give the best to their chidren.
Time flew by, as their little babies were now young adults.
Pramila and Pandurang successfully got their children married.
They even played a vital role in raising their grand-children.
They have done alot, for the familiar and the non-familiar. To the nearer and dearer ones, as well.
They will always be the best example for all of us, and for me.
Marriage is something which needs both the parties to give in their best to make it work and last long. It is a bond which allows the two people to fall, argue, drift but still stick around even if they are poles apart.
And, Aaji Nana define this holy relationship beautifully.
You both will always be connected spiritually, emotionally and mentally even if fate tries to separate you.
Distance won't let you diminish the love you both have for each other.
You Are Meant To Be Together for many more ages to come.
HAPPY 54 YEARS OF MARRIAGE, MR. & MRS. WAGHMARE.
- your grand-daughter, Parita.
